Voki Tip of the Week: Posting your Voki on PBworks.com

Since the launch of Voki for Education, there have been several questions (and, yes, concerns) about publishing Voki scenes on various platforms, such as PBworks.com.  Some Web-savvy Voki educators decided to share a “fix” in the Teacher’s Corner community. So, this Voki Tip is dedicated to posting Voki on your PBworks.com page!

Step 1

After creating and saving your Voki, click on Publish and Copy the embed code.

Step 2

On the edit page of PBworks, go to Insert, but instead of [More Plugins > Interactive Media > Voki Speaking Avatar], just click HTML/JavaScript.

Step 3

Paste the code into the box provided and select “Allow JavaScript.”

Step 4

Save your work. The Voki should appear/speak. That’s it!

Did this fix work for you?

  1. I’m new to voki, and I can’t figure out how to save them. I love the idea of using them in my classroom. However, we’re not about to complete our creations in a class period. How do I have students save them so that they can continue tomorrow? Thanks.

  2. Hi Joanne,

First, feel free to join us in the Teacher’s Corner where many Voki questions are answered (http://forums.voki.com/forums/list.page).

You have a couple of options:

*If your students can create their own accounts: After registering, they can log in, and go to Create. After creating the Voki and Saving it (by clicking Publish and giving it a name), the saved Voki scenes will all be listed in My Voki (visible when they are logged in).

*If your students cannot create their own accounts: They can still create a Voki (in Create) and publish it. After clicking Publish, they will be able to embed the Voki or share it with the Voki Link option. The Voki will always be viewable, but, without an account they won’t be able to edit the Voki.

    Good luck!

      1. There is a small bug in Internet Explorer that keeps the Voki link hidden. We’re working to fix this now.

Meanwhile, you can either use another browser (like Firefox, Chrome, or Safari), or you can create the Voki link yourself. Here’s how:

The only thing that must vary between any Voki link is the scene ID (a 7-digit number that identifies any Voki scene). You can find the scene ID within the embed code. It’s the number that comes after “sc=”

So, all you have to do is take this link, and replace this scene ID (3301660) with your scene ID:
